Although there is no medical evidence for any food (including warm milk) to help with sleeping, this is a recipe that helps me at night. (notice I didn't say it was a low calorie recipe for for those under 21) This is so much better than the packages that you find in the store.
Hot Chocolate Syrup - 6-8 servings
1/2 cup cocoa
3/4 - 1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp Bailey's irish cream or cognac (opt)
In heavy saucepan, + cocoa, sugar (use 1 cup if using dark chocolate), salt
+ boiling water. Simmer for 3 minutes
Whisk in heavy cream. Simmer until bubbles form around edges then remove from heat.
+ chocolate chips. Whisk until smooth
+ vanilla, alcohol. Cover and let rest 5 minutes
This syrup can be stored for a month.
To make 1 cup of hot chocolate:
+ 1/4 cup syrup to 1 cup of heated milk or
1/2 cup heavy cream and 1/2 cup milk
